Our Impact

We are giving people space to find hope in a world that often feels hopeless. As people spend time in The Upper Room and the surrounding property, it is our intention that they would experience the love of Jesus and grow in their faith.

Our Story

Jeff and Chrissy Lucas purchased a beautiful, wooded property in the quiet suburbs of the Twin Cities, in Jordan, Minnesota. They bought the home praying that it could bless other people, with a desire for it to be used for God’s kingdom. Exactly what it was going to be used for was unknown, except that they knew they wanted people to EXPERIENCE the love and healing power of Jesus like they had in their own lives. At the time, Chrissy was a hospice RN. After battling a debilitating fear of death herself, she had discovered that what was once her greatest fear had become her greatest passion. She and Jeff also valued time together, and prioritizing and caring for their family at home

God honored the desires of their hearts by birthing a healing ministry with special attention toward end of life care, that is now called The Upper Room. Not only is it located next door to their home, but it is something they have been able to do together, along with new friends that became family and their children too. The ministry is very family oriented, with a belief that children play a huge role in the kingdom of God. The Upper Room is currently evolving, yet blessing those in need in the process. The Upper Room team is very excited for this story to continue to unfold with a hope for more people to get involved and be impacted. Including the generations to come!

FAQs

  • There is currently no cost to use the Upper Room, and it is our heart to try to keep it that way. The Upper Room is a non-profit, currently operating through the generous donations of others. Donations are gratefully accepted, but not required.

  • Currently, there are a variety of small groups meeting regularly in The Upper Room. The space is also being requested by individuals for retreat days, or some people reach out to meet with us or others for company and/or prayer. We have also hosted worship nights, youth gatherings, and retreat days for local small businesses. We have had a growing need for end-of-life care and anticipate that it will be used for that purpose more and more. To hear more about our first end-of-life care experience in The Upper Room, click here! If it is being used for end-of-life care, all small groups, retreat days or other activities would be cancelled temporarily.
